Sony PCM-2000

Sony PCM-2000 portable DAT-recorder
The PCM-2000 was revolutionairy because it was the first portable DAT-recorder by Sony. It was actually the successor of the PCM-F1/SL-F1E combination I also own. :-) That combination consisted of a portable betamax videorecorder (which weights 4 Kg) and a similar sized PCM module (another 4 Kg, adding up to over 8 Kg in total! really portable ;-)
The PCM-2000 meant a huge step ahead combining the two pieces of equipment into one small form factor and ofcourse tiny DAT-tapes compared to Betamax tapes. Later the PCM-2000 was replaced by much smaller models like the TCD-D10 PRO MKII and other TCD models.
recording level button Sony did a special job on the record level knob. It's a nice, solide knob with little ribs on the side. Normally you set both left and right by turning the knob. By pushing the knob in, the middle part pops out, allowing you to set left and right individually. |
